Affiliate disclosure
Stargazr currently carries no affiliate links. This is the standard we will hold ourselves to before it ever does.
As of there is not a single compensated link anywhere on this site. The only revenue is Google advertising on article pages. We are publishing this policy first, rather than after the fact, because a disclosure written once money is already flowing is worth very little.
If that changes, here is the wording you will see
If you buy through a product link on this page, Stargazr may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are selected for practical usefulness; payment does not change the astronomy guidance or the order of recommendations.
It will appear immediately before the first compensated link on the page — not in a footer, not behind a link, not below the recommendation it applies to.
The rules
- Nothing is ranked by payout. Commission rate plays no part in what is recommended or in what order. If the best answer is a £25 pair of binoculars over a £400 telescope, that is what it will say.
- Every compensated link is machine-labelled with
rel="sponsored noopener", so a crawler and a screen reader can both tell what it is. - Every recommendation carries a record — the merchant, why it was chosen, what it was compared against, when the price was last checked, and who owns removing it when it stops being the right answer.
- No safety-critical claims. Solar filters and anything that sits between an eye and the Sun are not a place for commission-driven recommendations. We will link to the ISO standard and the vendors who meet it, without earning from it.
- The answer comes first. A product module never appears above the astronomy it belongs to, and no page exists solely to carry one.
- Portfolio links are disclosed too. Where we link to another site run by the same operator — Eclipsor, for instance — we say so on the link. That is not an affiliate relationship, but you are entitled to know it is not an arm's-length one either.
Advertising
Google advertising appears on article pages. It is not on this page, the privacy policy, About, Contact, the section hubs, or the Live sky and Custom chart tools. What Google collects and how to control it is set out in the privacy policy.
